By Devina Heriyanto

The first-ever Jakarta Content Week 2020 (Jaktent) will be held online on November 11-15 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jaktent, hosted by 17,000 Islands of Imagination Foundation (Yayasan Tujuhbelasribu Pulau Imaji) in partnership with the Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse), aims to be the hub for creative content and rights trading in Asia Pacific region.

With no fewer than seven sub-events, Jaktent provides a plethora of sessions that comprise from short talks, conversations, to academy and masterclasses, as well as business matchmaking sessions.

Jaktent line-up is LitBeat, LitFest, LitBite, LitTrade, LitFilm, The Market, and Cosplay championship. The latter is in partnership with Indonesian comic publisher re:ON Comics.

While some sessions are open to the public, Jaktent hosts several sessions that cater to the needs of entrepreneurs and businesses in the food, publishing, and creative industry.

For instance, LitTrade is aimed at those who are aspiring to jump into the world of publishing, with classes that cover the basics of getting contracts to the career journey of a literary agent.

The Market, meanwhile, is dedicated as a platform for businesses to exhibit their products and services, in order to attract investment.

Jaktent aims to give spotlights for regional players in Southeast Asia, as expressed by the organizers in a press statement.

"The publishing, but also the overall creative industries are growing, not only in Indonesia but all over South East Asia. We are excited to create a new marketplace for the trade of publishing and content rights in Southeast Asia, here in Jakarta, and hope to bring even more players from the region to the international table," said President of Frankfurt Book Fair Juergen Boos.

"This collaboration will be a big step forward in the development of Indonesia's creative industry. Through [the foundation], we want to strive for Jaktent as a mega event and to become a center for content industry meetings in the Southeast Asia region," said 17,000 Islands of Imagination Foundation Chairperson Laura Bangun Prinsloo.

As food has become an effective diplomatic tool for Indonesia, Jaktent also partners with I Love Indonesian Foods (Aku Cinta Makanan Indonesia or ACMI) in LitBite.

The full programming and registration for Jaktent, for the general audience, publishers, and businesspeople, are available on www.jaktent.com.

To accommodate the internet infrastructure for the event, the organizers have secured a partnership with FromLabs Solution. Other partners include Auswärtiges Amt (German Federal Foreign Office), WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), Publishing Perspectives, and the Goethe-Institut.
